List Import

Purpose: List import allows MOPs Admins to enforce data requirements for List Uploads.  CSVs uploaded to your MAP/CRM undergo automated data validation and allow you to review and fix errors.

Stack Moxie's List import feature does five things above and beyond other platforms:

1. MOPs Admins can set data standards that must be met to import a list.

2. Backup values can be added if your CSV is missing critical data.

3. Proactive Data validation catches errors before the import starts.

4. Error handling flags any challenges to users so they can fix them before import.

5. Take action on your lists, adding them to campaigns, changing system values, or checking processes.

Use Case: You are uploading leads from a Trade Show via CSV into Marketo.

Objects Currently Supported: Marketo Lead, Any Object in Salesforce

Instructions:

Step 1: Navigate to the menu of your instance to access list import.

Step 2: Create your blueprint.  Click on the Blueprints tab and then click on “Add a Blueprint”.  You can now name your blueprint and select the destination for your list import.  For this use case, the name of our Blueprint is “Trade Show Blueprint” and the destination is “Marketo Lead”.

LI2

Step 3: Select your required fields. For this use case, our CSV file contains the following fields: Email Address, First Name, Last Name, Company Name, Opt In Status, Country, Phone Number, Lead Source, Lead Source Detail, Person Notes, and Num Of Employees.  Once you have added your required fields, click “Create Blueprint”. Go back to the Import tab.

LI3

Step 4: Select the CSV file you would like to upload and select the appropriate blueprint. You also have the option to de-duplicate rows. For this use case, our CSV file is our TradeShowAttendess.csv and our blueprint is the one we just created named “Trade Show Blueprint”. Click Next.

Step 5: Map your blueprint’s mandated Marketo fields to your import CSV file.  You can add a Backup Value in case your CSV is missing a field value on your import list. Every row that doesn’t already have a value will get the backup value. For this use case, we have added back up values for Opt In Status, Lead Source, and Lead Source Detail.  If any of these fields are empty, our tool will automatically fill in the fields with the back up values. Now Click next.

Step 6: Validate your data.  Our tool will automatically catch errors before the import starts.  For this use case, we have two invalid email addresses, some missing values, an invalid phone number, and an invalid value for the number of employees.

  1. The email addresses are invalid due to having a comma and a semicolon.

  2. Missing values in the CSV are shown in case data can be updated.

  3. The phone number contains 555 which isn’t a valid area code.

  4. Employees field expects a number, but has “Seven” instead of 7.

Step 7: Fix the invalid data fields straight through our tool. Simply click on the fields and type the correct input. Click Next.

Step 8: Enter the final details.  Name your scenario and select the appropriate folder.  You also have the option to select a notification group to be alerted of the list import. Click Import.

Step 9: The details of your list import will be displayed.  In this case, all of our leads were successfully imported.

However, if any of your leads failed to import a message will be displayed with the lead that failed to upload.  In this case, one of the invalid emails was not fixed as the message reads “Invalid value for field 'email' and value 'Saeldktj23oiuhjhewfl;jkel@thisisjusta.atomatest.com”.  You then have the option to download the CSV file with the failed leads to try again.
